political frame analysis
The political frame can be defined as "organizations are coalitions of different individuals and interest groups." (Bolman and Deal, 2021, p. 190) This frame has to do with the differences and similarities of the numerous beliefs, backgrounds, upbringings, etc. at work. The political frame also deals with allocating resources to the necessary parties and making sure that everyone has what they need. Resources need to be divvyed out properly or scarcity will occur. The political frame is regarding who has the power and how it is used. "Scarce resources and enduring differences put conflict at the center of day to day dynamics and make power the most important asset." (Bolman and Deal, 2021, p. 190) The political frame of an organization can be a very tricky, complex, and an important part of a business.
Reflection
The political frame sheds light on the different groups of people that cohabitate the office. It shows how every employee has different interests, values, beliefs, etc. I was intrigued to learn more about how the office politics played a part in this situation with Susan. The day to day interactions between employees effect how we view and connect with each other. The ultimate goal of the political frame is to be able to understand, endure, and even apply these conflicts and diversities.
