define & describe decision making / problem solving -
1. Decision making is all about deciding the best choice and in a timely manner. We are all decision making every day, whether that is at home, school, work, a coffee shop, etc. As humans we are constantly using our decision making skills. When it comes to being a leader, we are deciding what needs to be completed and by who and when it needs to be done, etc. If a leader does not have good decision making skills then an entire project/product could fail. Furthermore, problem solving ties into decision making, they both go hand in hand. When someone is able to make good decisions and in a quick way then they will have no issue with problem solving. As stated from the reading, "exemplary teams find and reward expertise in problem solving." (Bolman & Deal, 2021, p. 109)

2. Both decision making and problem solving play a huge role in being a prosperous leader. As a future boss there are numerous decisions to be made. Choices about money, supplies, employees, benefits, the list goes on. Throughout making these selections, as a manager, I need to pick the options that are best for everyone involved. This comes with mass amount of responsibility and it bleeds into problem solving. Majority of the decisions I will need to make will come with problems and being able to not only make the right judgement but navigate through the problems too is critical to being a great leader.

3. Decision making and problem solving are characteristics that are not only pertinent for business and leadership but for overall life too. Professors in the organizational leadership program at Arizona State University know how valuable these traits are to have. If I can't make a decision or solve a problem then I will not make it very far in life, in work, or as a leader. These two attributes are some of the many that thriving leaders must have.

4. As I get older, it seems my decisions get more complex and difficult to decide. There is no longer anyone telling us what to do or what choice is the best. I have to figure out what decision is going to be the best for me. As a leader you need to not only decide what is best for yourself but what is best for your company, employees, etc. Problem solving also becomes more intense as you get older too. The minuscule problems that used to be are now monumental and difficult problems to work through. ASU has provided me with more knowledge and tools to help the process of decision making and problem solving much smoother, even with the harder complex situations that arise.
conflict resolution artifact description -
5. The artifact I have chosen to discuss and display is a module five Moral Minefield level five reflection paper. This was a reflection paper that I wrote regarding a Moral Minefield game I played in my OGL 345, organizational ethics course at ASU. This was from module five and it was level five in the game. I chose this artifact because in this paper I reflect on all of the decisions I had to make and the problems I had to solve in level five of the game. There were scenarios where I had to figure out the best outcome for the problem at hand. I think this artifact perfectly displays my thought process when it comes to figuring out decision making and problem solving, especially in the workplace.
